Fjösn, Facilities & Services

Fjösn is the heart of our resort. It serves as our reception building, breakfast area, and a cozy gathering place for guests. The old barn has been carefully rebuilt into a warm and welcoming space where everyone can meet, relax, and prepare for the evening ahead.

During the evenings, while waiting for the northern lights, you are welcome to come inside and unwind. When the aurora appears, our team will notify you. Just outside the door it is completely dark, allowing you to step out and enjoy the sky before returning inside to the warmth.

“Fjösn” is built inside a renovated barn where we have preserved the original character while adding large glass surfaces and simple, modern touches. It is located within easy walking distance of all units at the resort.

At Aurora Borealis Observatory, we focus on creating a calm and genuine Arctic experience. Surrounded by nature, you can enjoy peaceful surroundings, simple comfort, and personal guidance for activities and northern lights experiences. Whether you wish to relax or explore, we are here to help you make the most of your stay.

Breakfast​

Breakfast is included in your stay.We offer a self-service breakfast with freshly baked warm bread and rolls, local produce, cold cuts, cheese, eggs and a selection of fresh breakfast items from our refrigerated counter.Please note that we do not offer a cooked hot breakfast.

Waiting area for the aurora

You are welcome to use our waiting areas in the barn while keeping an eye on the sky. It is a warm and comfortable space to relax during the evening, meet fellow guests, and enjoy the atmosphere. Our team will make sure you are informed if the northern lights appear.

Photographer on location

During aurora season, we have a photographer on location. As long as we are available, we will be capturing photos of our guests under the stunning northern lights. These photos will be provided to you for free.

Pickup/Dropoff

Pickup and dropoff to/from Finnsnes is included if you book your stay directly via our webpage. Pickup/Dropoff included betweeen 15.00-22.00 / 08.00-15.00: NOTE - ONLY FOR BOOKINGS VIA OUR WEBPAGE

Camp fire

As written about the Tipi it is a very cozy place. The inside is also nice and some days we serve food while waiting for the aurora. This is also a perfect setting while waiting for the aurora on location.

GROCERIES & NEARBY RESTAURANTS

In the immediate area, about 10-15 minutes away, there is a good selection of grocery stores where you can get everything you need if you plan to cook in the apartment.

Other restaurants can also be found in the same area. The selection/variation is not like in a big city, but you can find good alternatives if you don't want to eat in our restaurant every day.

Note: During public holidays, most nearby restaurants are closed.

One of the best aurora borealis locations in the world

Our main goal is that you can see the aurora while staying here. You can also explore the culture of Senja Island and enjoy many other activities. Enjoy the silence and lovely atmosphere where your well-being is in focus. Our goal is to create the best Aurora Borealis experience. 

Northern Lights Activities on Location / Handled by ourselves

Since we are located on a small little hill with amazing surroundings we also offer on location activities. You can enjoy Photo classes, learn about aurora, go on hikes to our different viewpoints, simple skiing when we have snow and start the national scenic route from here. If you want to experience the city of Tromsø we recommend a day trip, as this is super simple in terms of logistics.

Northern Lights Activities provided by our collaborators

For those who wants more action we are also proud to say that we can offer the best providers in the nearby area. We only offer the most popular ones and all our collaborators will pick you up before the activity, and bring you back to the resort after. Most popular activities from our collaborators have been husky, mountain hikes and snowmobile.
