Aurora Borealis in Norway

The wait is finally over!

While we are continuing to expand and build a more comfortable place for people to enjoy the aurora at, we eventually finished refurbishing and revamping the ‘old farm house’ on schedule. Located by the ‘old barn’, also known as the restaurant building, the old farmhouse used to be the sheep breeders’ own house. Now that the property is transformed into an observatory dedicated to the aurora borealis, it was only fitting to use it for our guests!

As the expansion of the property goes on, we are building 4 more apartments, 2 big Deluxe suites and a brand new ‘aurora lounge’ where people can relax and wait for the aurora. However it was our experience that some of our guests actually desired a bigger place to accommodate more people.

Indeed most of our apartments are made for 2 or 3 people only. Now you can come and bring your family and friends as the house counts two main bedrooms and a third one we can open on request. In total, the old farmhouse can accommodate per booking either 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, with the possibility to add two extra people on request (extra bedroom).

The house itself is a two-story Norwegian-style house. The first floor harbors the master bedroom with a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with washing machine and dryer. They lead directly to a cosy open living room with view over the observatory property and the nature of Senja.

The living room is quite warm and welcoming as it has a large sofa, rocking chairs, wood stove and a TV. Right beside the living room you will find a fully equipped kitchen with all commodities like a fridge, dish-washer, stove, fan and all you need to make food and eat.

Oh, and did we mention that half of the first floor is surrounded by a large patio, on which stands a 4-person Jacuzzi ready to be used? Now you can spend an unlimited amount of time in the hot tub watching the aurora!

When you come up the stairs, you will find two bedrooms (including the extra bedroom opened on request) on either side.

On the second floor, the idea was to build a mini-observatory. As the focus of the whole property is the northern lights, the old farmhouse should be no different. At the core of this floor, we built a large open lounge with one large glass window oriented towards the northwest, which is one of the preferred directions for northern lights. 4 comfy sofa chairs are waiting for you to be used, so make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, turn off all the lights and enjoy the aurora show with even having to leave the comfort of the house!

All in all, we believe that the old farm house is a great addition to our expanding range of accommodation. We are also convinced that our guests will love it, as we have revamped it in a very authentic, yet stylish way. You will feel right at home while being at the heart of Northern Norway and the aurora. We just can’t wait for you to try it out! But don’t wait too long, as it is already in high demand and filling up fast!
